CT Angiography in Hyderabad at ₹7,000
HAQ Diagnostics is a diagnostic clinic in Mehdipatnam, Hyderabad, near Azizia Masjid. CT scans are done on a 64 slice CT scanner, under the supervision of Dr. Syed Wesam ul Haq, MD Radiologist.

CT angiography, often written as CTA, is a CT scan that maps your blood vessels. A dye is injected into a vein, and the scanner catches it as it flows through your arteries.
Unlike a traditional angiogram, there's no tube put into an artery. It's done through a small needle in your arm, and you go home the same day.
By the end of this page, you'll know what CT angiography shows, which body parts it covers, how to prepare safely, what happens on the day, and what it costs at HAQ Diagnostics.

What is CT angiography?
It's a contrast CT timed to the moment the dye fills your arteries. The scanner takes thin slices, and the computer builds them into 3D pictures of the vessels.
The radiologist can then see whether an artery is narrowed, blocked, swollen or leaking, and exactly where.
Which areas can be scanned
CT angiography is done for one region at a time. Your doctor's prescription will say which. Common ones are:
| Region | What doctors look for |
|---|---|
| Brain and neck | Narrowing of the neck arteries, aneurysms, stroke causes |
| Chest (pulmonary) | Blood clots in the lung arteries |
| Aorta | Swelling (aneurysm) or a tear of the main artery |
| Kidneys | Narrowed kidney arteries, a cause of high BP |
| Legs | Blocked leg arteries causing pain on walking |
Your prescription will say which region you need. Call or WhatsApp us with it, and we will confirm the price for that region before you book.
Why doctors ask for it
- Leg pain on walking that settles with rest.
- A narrowing seen on a Doppler scan that needs a closer look.
- Suspected aneurysm in the brain, chest or abdomen.
- High blood pressure that's hard to control, to check the kidney arteries.
- Planning or checking a vascular procedure or bypass.
Sudden chest pain, sudden breathlessness or stroke signs are emergencies. Go to a hospital emergency first, not to a scan clinic.
CT angiography or Doppler?
A Doppler ultrasound checks blood flow with no radiation and no dye, so doctors often start there, especially for neck and leg arteries.
CT angiography gives a complete 3D map that surgeons can plan from. So many patients have a Doppler first, then CTA if the Doppler shows a problem.
How to prepare
- Don't eat for 4 to 6 hours before the scan. Small sips of water are fine.
- Bring a recent serum creatinine report, ideally from the last 30 days. It shows your kidneys can clear the dye. If you don't have one, we can do the test the same day.
- Tell us if you have diabetes and take metformin. Your doctor may ask you to pause it for a short time after the scan.
- Tell us about any allergy, especially an earlier reaction to contrast dye, iodine or seafood, and about asthma or kidney disease.
- If you are or might be pregnant, tell us before booking.
- Bring your prescription and any old scans or reports.
What happens on the day
We check your creatinine report and ask about allergies. A cannula goes into a vein in your arm, usually a slightly larger one, because the dye goes in quickly.
You lie on the table, and the dye is injected while the scan runs. You'll be asked to hold your breath and keep very still for a few seconds. Plan for 30 to 45 minutes at HAQ Diagnostics in all.
Is contrast dye safe?
Most people feel nothing more than a warm flush and a metallic taste for a few seconds when the dye goes in. Serious reactions are rare. The radiologist checks your history before the injection, and we watch you for a short while after the scan before you leave. Drink plenty of water for the rest of the day to help flush the dye out.
Your report
An MD radiologist reviews your images and the 3D pictures. The report usually reaches you within 24 to 48 hours on WhatsApp or email, and you can collect a printed copy. Take it to your doctor or vascular surgeon to plan the next step.
Questions to ask your doctor before the scan
- Which part of my body needs the angiography?
- Would a Doppler scan answer the question first, without dye?
- Will the report go straight to my surgeon?
Words you might see in your report
Reports are written for doctors, so the words can be worrying. Here's what some common ones mean. Your own doctor should always explain your result.
| Word in the report | What it means in plain words |
|---|---|
| Stenosis | A narrowing of an artery. Reports often give it as a percentage. |
| Occlusion | An artery that's fully blocked. |
| Aneurysm | A part of an artery that has ballooned out. |
| Plaque | A build up on the artery wall, often with calcium. |
| Collaterals | Small vessels the body grows to get around a blockage. |
